Melee Rules
After each workshop, and at Melee events, It is crucial that all involved are safe. Here are the list of rules, with explanations.
rules concerning referee
- Referee's call is FINAL. This is for both yours, and all other's safety.
- If referee calls "Take a knee", take a knee. This is because someone has been injured.
- You get one warning from the referee for swinging too hard. If you continue to swing too hard, the referee will call you out for that round.
rules concerning combat
- You get hit in the arm, you loose that arm, drop your shield (if you have one), and if need be, put that arm behind your back.
- You get hit in the leg, you loose that leg, going on your knees if need be.
- You get hit in the: Hips, no man zone, behind, back, chest, shoulders - You are instantly dead, falling to the ground dramatically, and are no longer in that round.
- If you hit someone in the head or neck, you are instantly out. No questions asked.
- NO GRABBING OTHER SWORDS. Ether handles or blades, Because someone might try to twist out, and break their wrist. No one wants that to happen.
- Only approved throwing knives and javelins may be thrown. They do the regular damage. The same rules apply, if you hit someone in the head or neck, your out.
rules concerning weapons
- If you are using someone's weapon and break it, you have to ether: 1) Pay for it. 2) Replace it. 3) Pay for a commission to replace the weapon.
- Upon entering an event, a referee will approve or disapprove your weapon. Most of the time, we approve. Actually, we rarely disapprove a weapon, The only times being that the weapon was too hard (too many layers of duct tape) or it was too flexible.
- We will also tell you if you can stab with that weapon. The best way to get a "yes, you may stab" is to not have a pointy tip.
